The second closed qualifier for the Valorant Champions Tour has officially ended with Envy defeating the Sentinels in the end. Envy ran wild during the closed qualifier, but teams like 100 Thieves and FaZe Clan let us down.

Envy only lost two maps during his career in the second closed qualifier. They lost a map to Sentinels in the Top Category Semifinal and Immortals in the Top Category Final. Envy appears to be a completely different team from their performance in the last closed qualifier, where they were only able to win against Andbox before being eliminated by XSET in the bottom group.

The Sentinels were also dominant in their performance throughout the event, especially after winning the last standings. However, they were no match for Envy, who won the first map 13-9 and then the second 13-3. Envy came into the game with a map advantage as they won the top draw final.

What happened to 100 Thieves and FaZe?

100 Thieves didn’t make it to the close classification during the first few challenges because they couldn’t play Nick “Nitr0” Cannella. Nitr0 was the first qualifier to spend time with his wife and baby who was born during the tournament. Despite having his full roster for runner-up, 100 Thieves wasn’t playing well. They fought in their first game against Luminosity, which won 2-1 overall. 100 Thieves were able to pull back against Gen.G in the bottom bracket before falling to Sentinels later. The team that won First Strike in North America appears to be losing its hold on the teams at the top.

FaZe Clan is one of the few teams that has stuck with their roster from the beginning. They were considered a mid-level team in 2020, but have had disappointing performances this year. They were eliminated in round 16 by Luminosity during the first qualifying despite being 2North Dakota at the JBL Quantum Cup. While they were able to make it to the second close qualifier, they played all teams close. Version1, eUnited, and Built By Gamers were able to take FaZe Clan into game three before qualifying.

Valorant’s professional teams are beginning to close the gap with the top five previous teams. There are still other Challengers to play before Masters, but the title is for anyone. FaZe Clan and 100 Thieves will have to play until the next qualifier for their third opportunity at Masters.
