President Jair Bolsonaro considered a “To teaseo »the reception given by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva last week in Paris.

In an interview with a radio station in Salvador (BA), Bolsonaro was asked if he considered the reception of the former president, received with the honors of the head of state, as a provocation. Bolsonaro said yes and attacked the French president.

According to Bolsonaro, Macron “has always been against” his government for being a competitor in agricultural exports and “has always beaten” his administration on environmental issues.

“It sounds like a provocation. Doesn’t he know who Lula was here? Bolsonaro said. “What matters to some countries in the world is to have someone sit in that chair that I’m here sympathetic to their politics.”

Bolsonaro also said Macron would have “a problem” with him and that the attacks on Brazil were unfair.
