Wii U

The original game, Breath of the Wild, was slated for release in 2015 as a Wii U exclusive, but has been delayed twice.

A DARK TURN: The sequel would explore much darker themes

The game was finally released on March 3, 2017, but it was a launch game for the Switch and the last game Nintendo released for the Wii U.

So will we see the sequel hit the portable Wii console?

Sadly, that doesn’t seem very likely, as Zelda’s sequel has only been announced for the Nintendo Switch.

That said, a lot can change between now and the release date, so keep an eye out.

Release date

When released, Breath of the Wild 2 will have the Switch community in absolute bits, and for two reasons.

MANUAL ACTION: We can’t wait for Zelda to return to the Switch!

The original Switch game was such a success that the majority of players will be more than willing to reinvest in a new storyline.

But a prolonged wait for an official release date could temper the mood, especially with the arrival of new generation consoles at the end of the year!

There is still no official release date for BOTW 2, but it can’t remain a secret forever!

Development

Recently, rumors of an alleged game development update started to surface following an interview with the voice actors behind the Spanish dubbing Revali and Zelda.

LOST IN TRANSLATION: Somewhere along the line it looks like the voice actors’ comments were poorly rated

As reported by Gamereactor, the pair noted that their work on the new game is already done.

In a silent interview with the Spanish podcast “A Coffee With Nintendo”, the voice actors appeared to note that their work on the new game was already done!

What we didn’t know at the time was that the couple were actually playing a joke – even if it was a little rude.

The two continued their act as they later said they were not sure whether they should have disclosed such sensitive information.

So if this was all just a joke with friends, then we’re a little further from the release date than we initially thought!
