Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Allows Male V To Romance Judy Fully Voiced, CDPR Says It’s Not Cut Content

Cyberpunk 2077 is an immersive open world that allows gamers to be the asshole of their dreams (I say that’s not an insult, sometimes it’s fun to play ‘the devil may care’ protagonist) with V. That being said, V only has four romance options in total, two for Male V and two for Female V. Judy, right now, is a female-only romance option, but when modders discovered that she was still fully voiced throughout the entire romance streak when they unlocked her story arc for Male Vs, some thought this meant CD Projekt RED was cutting content to further restrict romances. We have the mod in question as well as the studio’s response to the reduction claims.

The mod in question is less of a massive change and more of a simple code tweak (which is really what mods are all about anyway) that allows Male Vs to romanticize our beloved comic expert (brain dance) . With a small tweak to the code already in the game, Male V can enter into a romance with V and is completely voiced by both parties as seen with the Female V relationship.

You can see the scene expressed in the images below from the modder, please be aware that it is very NSFW and sexual in nature for under 18s:

Cutting content from final games is nothing new, even cutting romance options is something that happens more often than people realize. Usually a good indicator of this is the coding found and whether the openness of availability is still fully expressed or not. Because Judy and V’s lines are voiced entirely for male romance, it’s easy to see why the conversation about “is this cut” taking place, but the CDPR insists it’s not. case here. Regarding the romantic lines, a representative of the CDPR released the following statement (via Eurogamer):

It was just more convenient and easier for our localization team from a production standpoint to record all the lines with both voices, so we could avoid missing something by mistake that would require future recordings.

This was done with pretty much everything just to be on the safe side, although it can vary between different languages.

Judy has always been just a female partner of romance V and that was the artistic vision from the start, there was no male romance option cut from the game. “

On a personal note, I generally don’t play with mods that alter relationships that are not heterosexual in nature. Before I yell at me that I am “censoring” anyone, my reasoning is just for myself and not something that I would never “stalk someone for”, I just feel – personally – that the options for same-sex relationships are so few and far between in games, the number available is usually much smaller than that of heterosexual relationships, which seems to me that playing with this type of representation is a form of erasure. Do I think everyone should feel this? No, I understand. For me, however, it became a moral issue (yes, I realize it’s a video game) when a Dorian mod for Inquisition went viral, a mod that made it right while its entire history was a gripping story of “coming out” when society wanted him dead or buried just for preferring men.

Just like with the previous Cyberpunk 2077 mods we’ve shared, you’ll need Cyber Engine Tweaks to get started. You can download it for free here. The video above also shows gamers, on PC only, how they can make this change of romance work in the game.
