After a hugely successful beta, the Battle Royale Fall Guys board game has had an even better launch. The multi-colored multiplayer game had a higher peak of concurrent players than several recent triple A hits in its first week.
Underlined by video game industry analyst Benji-SalesFall Guys’ Steam Concurrent Player Record is 124,772, more than Doom Eternal, Sea of Thieves, Resident Evil 3, and Horizon Zero Dawn. Not bad for a game developed, as Sales points out, by a team that only had 30 employees at most. It’s also worth noting that these are just Steam issues, not counting PlayStation 4 players, where Fall Guys launched as part of this month’s free games on PlayStation Plus. So, yeah, a lot of people are doing a lot of falls this week.
That being said, sustaining this type of gigantic launch has not been without trials. Fall Guys servers struggled intermittently, which brought them to a complete halt as players flood the platform game. Everything is back to normal at the time of writing, but support each other in the meantime developer Mediatonic and publisher Devolver Digital.
Some Fall Guys players have been very creative in their methods of reaching and overtaking. One man resorted to jelly candy, determined to earn at least one crown using the makeshift controller.
