Whether you’re starting out, or a veteran of the wasteland, this Fallout 4 Perks Chart guide will help you plot out which S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes you want to upgrade.

Fallout 4 has been out a hot minute. The 2015 title is Bethesda’s latest single-player entry into the ever-popular series. Fallout 76 may not have stuck the landing, but that doesn’t take away from Fallout 4’s improvements on Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. One of these improvements was the perks system implemented throughout the game. Fallout 4 takes the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system and the perk system of the previous games and merges them into one massive Fallout 4 perks chart. 

When you level up in Fallout 4, you gain a point which can either be spent on a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attribute or on a perk. As you level up each S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attribute, you’ll unlock perks higher up in the perk chart. Each perk also has several levels which increase its effectiveness.

Below, we have listed every perk that appears on the expansive S.P.E.C.I.A.L. perks chart with what you need to unlock them and what they do! The format is below:

Strength Perks

Iron Fist – STR 1

1 N/A Punching attacks do 20% more damage.
2 9 Punching attacks do 40% more damage, and can disarm.
3 18 Punching attacks do 60% more damage, with unarmed power attacks having a chance to cripple a limb.
4 31 Punching attacks now do 80% more damage, with unarmed power attacks having an increased chance to cripple a limb.
5 46 Punching attacks now do 100% more damage, and critical hits in V.A.T.S. will paralyse. 

Big Leagues – STR 2

1 N/A Do 20% more melee damage.
2 7 Do 40% more melee damage, and have a chance to disarm.
3 15 Do 60% more melee damage, and have an increased chance to disarm.
4 27 Do 80% more melee damage, and hit all targets in front of you.
5 42 Do 100% more melee damage, and have a chance to cripple or decapitate.

Armourer – STR 3

1 N/A Gain access to Rank 1 armour mods.
2 13 Gain Access to Rank 2 armour mods.
3 25 Gain access to Rank 3 armour mods.
4 39 Gain Access to Rank 4 armour mods.

Blacksmith – STR 4

1 N/A Gain access to Rank 1 melee weapon mods.
2 16 Gain access to Rank 2 melee weapon mods.
3 29 Gain access to Rank 3 melee weapons mods.

Heavy Gunner – STR 5

1 N/A Heavy Guns do 20% more damage.
2 11 Heavy Guns do 40% more damage, improved hip fire accuracy.
3 21 Heavy Guns do 60% more damage, further improved hip fire accuracy.
4 35 Heavy Guns do 80% more damage, additional chance to stagger.
5 47 Heavy Guns do 100% more damage.

Strong Back – STR 6

1 N/A Additional +25 carry weight.
2 10 Further additional +25 carry weight.
3 20 When overencumbered, you can use AP to run.
4 30 When overencumbered, you can Fast Travel.
5 40 When overencumbered, running cost 50% less AP.

Steady Aim – STR 7

1 N/A Hip fire accuracy is increased with any weapon.
2 28 Hip fire accuracy is increased further with any weapon.
3 49 Hip fire damage is improved with any weapon.

Basher – STR 8 

1 N/A Gun bashing does 25% more damage.
2 5 Gun bashing does 50% more damage, possibly cripples.
3 14 Gun bashing does 75% more damage, increased chance to cripple.
4 26 Gun bashing does 100% more damage, increased chance to cripple, possible chance to critical hit.

Rooted – STR 9 

1 N/A While standing still; +25 Damage Resistance, melee and unarmed attacks deal 25% more damage.
2 22 While standing still; now +50 Damage Resistance, melee and unarmed attacks deal 50% more damage.
3 43 Possible to automatically disarm opponents who attack with melee weapons.

Pain Train – STR 10

1 N/A While wearing Power Armour; sprinting into opponents hurts and staggers.
2 24 While wearing Power Armour; sprinting into opponents causes severe damage and powerful stagger.
3 50 While wearing Power Armour; sprinting into opponents causes massive damage and knocks them down.

Perception Perks

Pickpocket  – PER 1

1 N/A Pickpocketing is 25% easier.
2 6 Pickpocketing is 50% easier, and can place a grenade in the opponent’s inventory.
3 17 Pickpocketing is 75% easier, and can steal equipped weapons.
4 30 Pickpocketing is 100% easier, and can steal equipped items.

Rifleman – PER 2

1 N/A Non-Automatic rifles do 20% more damage.
2 9 Non-Automatic rifles do 40% more damage, ignoring 15% armour.
3 18 Non-Automatic rifles do 60% more damage, ignoring 20% armour.
4 31 Non-Automatic rifles do 80% more damage, ignoring 25% armour, slight chance of crippling a limb.
5 46 Non-Automatic rifles do 100%, ignore 30% armour, higher chance of crippling a limb.

Awareness – PER 3

1 N/A View an opponent’s specific damage resistance in V.A.T.S.
2 14 5% increase to hit chance and damage dealt to opponents in V.A.T.S.

Locksmith – PER 4

1 N/A Ability to pick advanced locks.
2 7 Ability to pick expert locks.
3 18 Ability to pick master locks.
4 41 Bobby pins never break during lockpicking.

Demolition Expert – PER 5

1 N/A Explosives do 25% more damage, and can now craft explosives.
2 10 Explosives do 50% more damage, gain a grenade throwing arc.
3 22 Explosives do 75% more damage, increased area of effect.
4 32 Explosives do 100% more damage, explosives shot in V.A.T.S. do double damage.

Night Person – PER 6

1 N/A Gain +2 INT and PER between 18:00 and 06:00.
2 25 Gain +3 INT and PER between 18:00 and 06:00, night vision while sneaking.
3 37 Gain an extra 30 health between 18:00 and 06:00.

Refractor – PER 7 

1 N/A Gain +10 energy resistance.
2 11 Gain +20 energy resistance.
3 21 Gain +30 energy resistance.
4 35 Gain +40 energy resistance.
5 42 Gain +50 energy resistance.

Sniper – PER 8

1 N/A Improved control and extended breath holding while aiming with a scope.
2 13 15% chance of knocking down targets with non-automatic and scoped rifles.
3 26 +25% accuracy of headshots in V.A.T.S with non-automatic and scoped rifles.

Penetrator – PER 9 

1 N/A V.A.T.S can target body parts obscured by cover with decreased accuracy.
2 28 V.A.T.S can target body parts obscured by cover without decreased accuracy.

Concentrated Fire – PER 10

1 N/A Every V.A.T.S. attack on the same body part gets +10% accuracy.
2 26 Every V.A.T.S. attack on the same body part gets +15% accuracy.

Endurance Perks

Toughness – END 1

1 N/A Gain +10 damage resistance.
2 9 Gain +20 damage resistance.
3 18 Gain +30 damage resistance.
4 31 Gain +40 damage resistance.
5 46 Gain +50 damage resistance.

Lead Belly – END 2

1 N/A Take less radiation from eating or drinking.
2 6 Take even less radiation from eating or drinking.
3 17 Take no radiation from eating or drinking.

Lifegiver – END 3

1 N/A Instantly gain +20 maximum health.
2 8 Instantly gain another +20 maximum health.
3 20 Instantly gain another +20 maximum health, slowly regenerate lost health.

Chem Resistant – END 4

1 N/A 50% less likely to become addicted to Chems.
2 22 Complete immunity to Chem addiction.

Aquaboy / Aquagirl – END 5

1 N/A No longer take radiation from swimming, and can breathe underwater.
2 21 You become totally undetectable while underwater.

Rad Resistant – END 6

3 26 Gain +30 radiation resistance.

Adamantium Skeleton – END 7

1 N/A Reduce limb damage by 30%.
2 13 Reduce limb damage by 60%.
3 26 Completely eliminate limb damage.

Cannibal – END 8

1 N/A Eating human corpses restores health.
2 19 Eating Ghoul or Super Mutant corpses restore health.
3 38 Eating any of the above significantly increases health restored.

Ghoulish – END 9 

1 N/A Radiation now regenerates lost health.
2 24 Radiation now regenerates even more lost health.
3 48 Radiation now regenerates even more lost health, some Feral Ghouls will become friendly.
4 50 Radiation Damage will now begin to slowly heal and restore health.

Solar Powered – END 10

1 N/A +2 STR and END between 06:00 and 18:00.
2 20 Sunlight heals radiation damage.
3 41 Sunlight regenerates lost health.

Charisma Perks

Cap Collector – CHR 1

1 N/A Buying and selling prices are better.
2 20 Buying and selling prices are now much better.
3 41 Can now invest 500 Caps to increase a store’s buying capacity.

Lady Killer / Black Widow – CHR 2

1 N/A Opposite gender suffers +5% damage in combat, easier to persuade in dialogue.
2 7 Opposite gender suffers +10% damage in combat, even easier to persuade in dialogue, easier to pacify with Intimidation.
3 22 Opposite gender suffers +15% damage in combat, much easier to persuade in dialogue, even easier to pacify with Intimidation.

Lone Wanderer – CHR 3

1 N/A When out without a companion, take 15% less damage, +50 carry weight.
2 17 When out without a companion, take 30% less damage, +100 carry weight.
3 40 When out without a companion, do 25% more damage.
4 50 When out without a companion, you have 25 more AP

Attack Dog – CHR 4

1 N/A Your dog can hold an enemy, offering an increased chance to hit in V.A.T.S.
2 9 When your dog holds an enemy, there’s a chance he’ll cripple the limb he’s biting.
3 25 When your dog holds an enemy, there’s a chance he’ll make them bleed.
4 31 When adventuring with your dog, take 10% less damage.

Animal Friend – CHR 5

1 N/A Aim at any animal below your level and gain a chance to pacify it.
2 12 When you pacify an animal, you can incite it to attack.
3 28 When you pacify an animal, you can give it further specific commands.

Local Leader – CHR 6

1 N/A Gain ability to establish supply lines between workshop settlements.
2 14 Gain ability to build stores and workstations at workshop settlements.

Party Boy / Party Girl – CHR 7

1 N/A No chance you’ll get addicted to alcohol.
2 15 Effects of alcohol are doubled.
3 37 +3 LCK while under the influence of alcohol.

Inspirational – CHR 8

1 N/A Companion does more damage in combat, and cannot hurt you.
2 19 Companion resists more damage in combat, and you cannot harm them.
3 43 Companions can carry more items.

Wasteland Whisperer – CHR 9

1 N/A Aim at any wasteland creature below your level and gain a chance to pacify it.
2 21 When successfully pacifying a creature, you can incite it to attack.
3 49 When successfully pacifying a creature, you can give it further specific commands.

Intimidation – CHR 10

1 N/A Aim at any human opponent below your level and gain a chance to pacify them.
2 23 When successfully pacifying a human, you can incite it to attack.
3 50 When successfully pacifying a human, you can give further specific commands.

Intelligence Perks

V.A.N.S. – INT 1

1 N/A The path to your closest objective is shown in V.A.T.S
2 36 Gain +2 PER

Medic – INT 2

1 N/A Stimpacks restore 40% health, RadAway removes 40% radiation.
2 18 Stimpacks restore 60% health, RadAway removes 60% radiation.
3 30 Stimpacks restore 80% health, RadAway removes 80% radiation.
4 49 Stimpakcs restore 100% health, RadAway removes 100% radiation, and work more quickly.

Gun Nut – INT 3

1 N/A Gain access to Rank 1 Gun Mods.
2 13 Gain access to Rank 2 Gun Mods.
3 25 Gain access to Rank 3 Gun Mods.
4 39 Gain access to Rank 4 Gun Mods.

Hacker – INT 4

1 N/A You can hack advanced terminals.
2 9 You can hack expert terminals.
3 21 You can hack master terminals.
4 33 You can never be locked out of a terminal while hacking.

Scrapper – INT 5

1 N/A Salvage uncommon components when scrapping weapons and armour.
2 23 Salvage rare components when scrapping weapons and armour, items with favorited components are highlighted.
3 40 Get more from salvaging. Only applies to uncommon components.

Science! – INT 6

1 N/A Gain access to Rank 1 high-tech mods.
2 17 Gain access to Rank 2 high-tech mods.

1 N/A Hack a robot and gain a chance to power it on or off, or self-destruct.

Nuclear Physicist – INT 9

1 N/A Radiation weapons do 50% more damage, Fusion Cores last an extra 25% longer.
2 14 Radiation weapons do 100% more damage, Fusion Cores last an extra 50% longer.
3 26 Fusion cores can be ejected from Power Armour like grenades and last 100% longer.

Nerd Rage! – INT 10

1 N/A When health drops below 20%; time slows, gain +20 damage resistance, 20% more damage (while effect lasts).
2 31 Gain +30 damage resistance, and 30% more damage (while effect lasts).
3 50 Gain +40 damage resistance, and 40% more damage (while effect lasts), kills while enraged also restore some lost health.

Agility Perks

Gunslinger – AGI 1

4 35 Automatic weapons do 80% more damage, chance to stagger opponents.

Sneak – AGI 3

2 5 30% harder to detect while sneaking, no longer trigger floor traps.

Idiot Savant – LCK 5

1 N/A Randomly receive 3x XP from any action, lower your INT the higher the chance.

3 34 Randomly receiving an XP bonus from any action may trigger 3x XP for all kills for a short period in time, lower your INT the higher the chance.

Better Criticals – LCK 6

1 N/A Critical Attacks for 50% extra damage.
2 15 Critical Attacks for 100% extra damage.
3 40 Critical Attacks for 250% extra damage.

Critical Banker – LCK 7

1 N/A You can save a critical hit to be used in V.A.T.S.
2 17 You can save 2 critical hits to be used in V.A.T.S.
3 43 You can save 3 critical hits to be used in V.A.T.S., banking a critical has a chance to save an additional critical.
4 50 You can save 4 critical hits to be used in V.A.T.S.

Grim Reaper’s Spirit – LCK 8

1 N/A Any V.A.T.S. kill has a 15% chance to restore all AP.
2 19 Any V.A.T.S. kill has a 25% chance to restore all AP.
3 46 Any V.A.T.S. kill has a 35% chance to restore all AP and refill the critical meter.

Four Leaf Clover – LCK 9 

1 N/A Each V.A.T.S. hit has a chance to fill your critical meter.
2 13 Each V.A.T.S. hit has a better chance to fill your critical meter.
3 32 Each V.A.T.S. hit has a very good chance to fill your critical meter.
4 48 Each V.A.T.S. hit has an excellent chance to fill your critical meter.

Ricochet – LCK 10

1 N/A An enemy’s ranged attack will sometimes bounce back and kill them, lower health the higher the chance.
2 29 Increased chance of incoming ranged attacks will rebound and kill opponents.
3 50 When an enemy’s shot is rebounded and kills them, there’s a chance to fill your critical meter.

Fallout 4’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L. perks system is the perfect way to customize your attributes and abilities to how you want to play the game. However, that isn’t every perk you can get in Fallout 4.
