Epic Games is in the midst of comic-powered goodness. With the Nexus Wars ongoing, it can be a spectacle more than usual. However, you can make the most of your Fortnite experience on PC now, thanks to the official implementation of ray tracing technology. Announced in a blog post, Fortnite players using supported Nvidia GPUs and DirectX12 can now enable ray tracing and Nvidia’s DLSS feature. Competition never looked that good until Fortnite ray tracing.

Ray tracing will now allow for “new visual and lighting effects previously not possible” in the battle royale. “With our latest update, we’re delivering improved ambient occlusion, shadows, reflections, and real-time global illumination,” Epic Games shared. Based on the screenshots shared, the differences are stark. The lifelike reflections and shadows are definitely impressive. If you feel like you want to check out a ray-traced map that shows off the capabilities, head over to this Nvidia-made island: 9189-0518-5408.

More bells and whistles

If your machine has the chops, you can enjoy Fortnite ray tracing at a higher frame rate. The three DLSS options of Quality, Balanced, and Performance, can control the DLSS rendering resolution, allowing players to choose the right balance between image quality and frames per second. In addition, Nvidia Reflex will deliver the lowest latency for Fortnite. Reflex Low Latency Mode aligns game engine work to complete just-in-time for rendering, eliminating the GPU render queue and reducing CPU back pressure in GPU intensive scenes.
