GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Won’t Be a Simple Port

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive, says the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S of GTA V won’t be a simple port.

Rockstar has already announced that GTA V will arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in the second half of 2021. However, according to VGC, during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Wednesday, Zelnick stated the game won’t be a simple port, since remastering has always been a part of the strategy.

‘We’ve done differently than the competition – we don’t just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on.’

With the arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Grand Theft Auto V is, amazingly, reaching its third console generation. Looking back, when GTA V was released for PS4, Xbox One and PC, it came with some improvements when comparing to its previous generation edition. Among new functions, a first-person mode was implemented and GTA Online player limit was increased.

Rarely, some game remasters made by companies are able to please fans, like Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Collection and Super Mario 64. However, Zelnick is confident that Rockstar can do a great job in delivering a strong experience for players since it already did a good job with the Mafia series.

It was a standard-bearer when it was launched, it continued to be the standard-bearer in the second generation, we’ll see how Grand Theft Auto does in the next generation. Obviously, I’m confident that Rockstar is going to deliver just a great experience, but you can’t do that if you’re just doing a simple port
