How to Get the Upgrade Item in Pokémon Go

Update is an item in Pokemon go that, for the moment, has exactly one purpose. It is used to convert Porygon to Porygon2. This is currently the only way to evolve Porygon, which is why many trainers with Porygons in their lineup wonder how to obtain them.

Evolution items are a rare commodity in Pokemon Let’s go, and updates are no exception. There are a couple of methods for obtaining them, all of which are similar to the methods for obtaining any other evolution item. Still, all the methods provide little or no Enhancement elements, or are rare methods in and of themselves. This means that you shouldn’t expect to find an upgrade item instantly; it is likely to be quite complicated.

Method # 1: Special Investigation

There is one method that always gives you an Enhancement, and that is to perform the Special Research that Professor Willow assigned you. The specific investigation you need to complete is Step five of A wave in time. This is the second line of research that it provides you, and it can only be accessed by completing all the steps of the research titled A mythical discovery.

Once you complete Step Five of A wave in time You will find that among the rewards there is an improvement. Unless you’re looking to evolve multiple Porygons, this update should be enough!

Method # 2: PokéStops Photo Discs

Another way to get this rare item is to spin photo discs at PokéStops and Gyms. It is extremely rare for an upgrade item to drop when spinning the disk itself (less than one percent). However, if you spin at least one Photo Disc every day for seven days, you are awarded bonus items, one of which is guaranteed as an evolution item. This does not necessarily mean that you will receive an upgrade item, but it greatly increases your chances.

Method # 3: Gifts

The last way to get an upgrade item is through giveaways. Every friend you have Pokemon go can send you a gift a day. The more friends you have in the game, the more gifts you can receive, and the more likely one of them will contain an Upgrade. Unfortunately, it is incredibly rare to find an upgrade when you open a gift. Still, it is possible!
