How to unlock the ZRG 20mm sniper rifle in Black Ops Cold War

Continuing the theme of past seasons, Treyarch has once again released a new mid-season pistol. For the second season, it is a new sniper rifle that has been added to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the 20mm ZRG. The ZRG is unlike any other weapon in Cold War. It has some of the most impressive damage ever seen in a Obligations game, but it suffers from its extremely poor handling characteristics.

Regardless, thanks to its ability to almost always secure a single shot kill, the ZRG 20mm is worth unlocking. Especially in slower game modes like Search and Destroy, you are probably the best sniper in Cold War.

20mm ZRG Sniper Unlock

Unlike many of the previous mid-season weapon drops, the ZRG is relatively easy to unlock. This is a nice change, as mindlessly searching for new weapons isn’t ideal. Hopefully this is one direction Treyarch sticks to moving forward.

The challenge of unlocking the 20mm ZRG sniper in Cold War is as follows: “Using sniper rifles, earn 2 Longshot medals in 10 different matches.” Just use whatever sniper rifle you have to earn a pair of long-shooting medals in ten games. The rank required to earn a long-throw medal in Cold War with a sniper it is 51 meters. Similarly, the required range in War zone is 50 meters.

Since sniping is optimized for long-range encounters, most players should find this relatively easy to do. Although any sniper will work, the LW3 – Tundra is slightly better than its competitors at winning these medals. It has a higher base bullet velocity than the other two, as well as a lower bullet drop overall. If you choose to complete this challenge in War zone so HDR is also a great option.

The best game modes to complete this challenge are Fireteam: Dirty Bomb and Plunder. The first is a large-scale objective mode in Cold War. Meanwhile, Plunder is the best choice for War zone-players only, as quick spawns make getting two long shot quick kills easy enough. Once you have completed the ZRG 20mm challenge in Cold WarYou cannot leave the lobby early. Leaving the games before they finish will prevent progress towards the challenge. However, in War zone and Plunder, you can leave the games as soon as you see the second long-range medal appear.
