Krafton Representative on PUBG Mobile India Release Date

The launch of PUBG Mobile India was still underway in January 2021, according to a report by South Korean media E Today. In the report released on January 25, 2021, a representative for Krafton allegedly said the company was “continue to communicate and work with the Indian government.“This despite PUBG: New State would be in development since 2020. So this statement could indicate that PUBG Mobile India and PUBG: New State are both in the process of trying to obtain permission from the Indian government to enter the country.

The popular battle royale game has yet to receive permission from the Indian government to relaunch the game in the country, despite various measures taken by the game’s publisher to distance itself from Chinese company Tencent.

Gemwire.gg spotted a remark made by a representative for Krafton in a report on the South Korean news portal E Today. The report, which detailed the impact of the launch of the Indian mobile game FAU-G on Krafton, contained a statement from the representative of developer PUBG who said:

“We are continuing to communicate and work with the Indian government to re-release PUBG Mobile in the Indian market. However, we cannot yet reveal details on current progress (such as the game’s release date).”

It should be noted that this statement was made by Krafton on January 25, prior to the PUBG: New State reveal.. The company’s strategy to re-release PUBG Mobile India may have changed since then, especially given previous reports that the Indian government has no plans to take PUBG Mobile down as it was developed by the company. The lack of any development in the PUBG Mobile India release date apparently hasn’t deterred Krafton. After his ban, he hired Aneesh Aravind as Country Manager of PUBG Mobile India in December 2020. Aravind was previously in charge of Tencent’s operations in India, including PUBG Mobile. He also hired a new PUBG Mobile operations team during the same period.

Most recently, in February 2021, the company hired a new regional manager for India and MENA to work on the studio’s strategy, investments and operations. It also announced a partnership with NODWIN Gaming to promote its flagship PUBG PC esports event PUBG Global Invitational.S (PGI.S).
