Live-Action The Medium Cinematic Trailer Is A Tantalizing Teaser Of The Horror To Come

Bloober Team knows a thing or two about weaving an incredible horror tale, and that streak continues with the upcoming psychological thriller, The Medium. To celebrate the upcoming launch of this thrilling horror adventure, the studio behind the title just revealed a new live-action trailer that offers a weird new take on the mystery behind it all.

The Medium is more than just a scary experience. It’s a game that flirts with psychological warfare, intended to draw the player into a dualistic experience that thrives on uncertainty and a convoluted sense of reality. The live-action trailer goes beyond that, showing even more disturbing elements to the world that The Medium has to offer:

“The Medium is a game with a very strong narrative backbone. The most important thing for me was to understand the essence of this story, who are its heroes and its tone, ”said Tomasz Bagiński, writer and creative producer. “The task was to lean as hard as possible on the emotional side of the story while trying to keep as many twists as possible a secret. The storyline is meant to create a certain mood rather than reveal a story. “

Bagiński is an Oscar nominated filmmaker, as well as a Bafta laureate and phenomenal storyteller. He has also worked on other core games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series in addition to previous work with Ubisoft and Microsoft.

“The Medium is our biggest and most ambitious project to date,” said Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team. “When we thought about who could write a live trailer for the game, Tomasz Bagiński quickly became the more natural choice. After all, her Oscar nominee Cathedral was also inspired by the art of Zdzisław Beksiński, as was the spirit world in our game. I am personally very happy that we were able to create something together. “

The Medium, according to Bloober, is the studio’s most ambitious project to date and will require players to attempt to survive not in one reality, but in two simultaneously. With a soundtrack co-composed by Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill, this spooky adventure could be the next big horror if it delivers on its promises.

As for the journey itself, the story follows Marianne, a character plagued by terrifying visions mingling two realities. There is the reality that we know and see every day, and then there is the reality that belongs to spirits and very dangerous things that turn at night. As her visions progress, Marianne will travel to a hotel in Krakow, Poland, which harbors a horrific tragedy and it is there that she must unravel the mystery that torments her.

The Medium officially makes its psychological debut on January 28 on Xbox Series X / S and PC via the Epic Games Store, Steam, and the Microsoft Store.
