Netflix’s The Witcher recasts Eskel, adding Codringher and Fenn in season 2

The cast of Netflix’s The Witcher series has undergone a small change. One character from the series based on the RPG game has been recast, while two more characters from the novels are expected to be introduced for the second season.

The first is courtesy of Deadline, which reports that Basil Eidenbenz replaced Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel, a witcher from the Wolf School. Rasmussen was announced as part of the cast in February and was on set for the first few days of production for the following season, when everything had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cameras starter started up again in August, but sadly that led to him stepping down due to a scheduling conflict with Eidenbenz being his replacement. In a statement on Instagram, he said he felt “happy and grateful” for his brief stint with the project, thanking fans for their support.

The other casting detail comes from Redanian Intelligence, who discovered that two of the continent’s best detectives would join in Geralt’s misadventures. Jacob Fenn and Codringher, who run the detective agency and the eponymous law firm Codringher and Fenn, assist Geralt for a moment or two in the novels, and will likely do the same here. As far as we know, neither role has been chosen yet.

They join Vesemir, whose return was confirmed in February. Details are still scarce on what the second season of the Henry Cavill-led series based on open-world gaming will involve, but it will at least have fewer deadlines and is expected to arrive in 2021.
