OpTic Chicago defeated one of the CDL’s most popular teams, the New York Subliners, in the Stage 1 Major. OpTic made quick work of the game, advancing to the group of winners with a score of 3-0 against the Subliners.

New York came into this game after going 2-1 at CDL Super Week in an impressive performance. On the other hand, OpTic is generally considered one of the best teams in the league, so this match was intriguing from the start. Although, there was nothing intriguing about the final result, as evidenced by the final score of 3-0.

OpTic Chicago handles business against New York

Perhaps the biggest thorn in the Subliners’ side has been their inability to beat top-tier squads. In Super Week, they were swept by the Dallas Empire after being swept by them in the Kickoff Classic.

However, many thought that New York had turned the page after Super Week. However, this was not the case, as OpTic proved that the New York roster has a long way to go to be competitive in the league.

It was a quick 3-0 showing for OpTic, as they won big on all maps. However, the true victory story is how OpTic has improved on Search and Destroy. They toppled New York by a score of 6-1 and were never really in danger for most of the rounds.

The other game modes weren’t too competitive either, with Brandon “Dashy” Otell making big plays at Control especially. However, for the series as a whole, Dashy returned an incredible 2.13 kill / kill ratio.

In the Stage 1 Major, New York fell to the elimination group and OpTic advances to the second round of the winner’s group. This is where they will perform the Dallas Empire, which comes with its own stories. Ian “Crimsix” Porter plays against his old team again, and it’s no secret that there is no love between the two.

Both New York and OpTic play tomorrow, March 5. The Subliners face the Florida Mutineers at 6:00 pm EST and OpTic faces Dallas at 4:30 pm EST. You can see the full support and schedule on the Call of Duty League website.
