Krafton has just announced its new PUBG Mobile title dubbed “PUBG: New State” and has opened pre-registrations for mobile games. South Korean companies Krafton and PUBG Studio have been credited with developing the game unlike PUBG Mobile which was developed by the Chinese company Tencent. But despite the game being developed by the South Korean studio, it doesn’t look like players from India, Vietnam and China can play it just yet. IGN India reported that the official press release sent by Krafton reveals that PUBG: New State will have a worldwide release “excluding China, Vietnam and India” that may disappoint many fans.

PUBG Mobile is not releasing in IndiaA document from the official PUBG: New State website indicates that the game is unlikely to be released in India.

Why PUBG: The New State will not be released in India

Despite the lack of involvement of Chinese companies like Tencent, PUBG New State will not immediately launch in India. Krafton revealed this via an official press release stating that the game is being developed by “PUBG Studio, the Creators of the Original Battle Royale, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS.” The reason for India’s exclusion from the launch is currently unknown, but that doesn’t necessarily rule out a future release of the game in the country.

In 2020, PUBG Mobile was banned in India along with over 200 Chinese apps and games. The Indian government tried them “Prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the defense of India, state security and public order”. IGN India sources have said on condition of anonymity that the Indian government has no plans to remove PUBG Mobile.

However, a few popular Indian esports figures have said the game is simply delayed and will launch in India after a few days.

Krafton is actively working with Indian esports organizations. Recently, it announced a partnership with NODWIN Gaming to promote its flagship event PUBG PC esports PUBG Global Invitational.S (PGI.S). Krafton also recently hired a new operational team and a new regional manager.

The game is available for pre-registration on Android and iOS users will also be able to register in the near future. All registrants will receive a free in-game vehicle to celebrate the announcement.
