Watch Nier Replicant’s Upgraded Opening Movie



We are very excited for Nier Replicant (it is one of our best upcoming action games after all), and Square Enix has poured energy into that fire by releasing the enhanced version of the game’s opening cinematic. The video showcases the visual and audio enhancements to the original cult favorite from 2010, giving it a sparkle contemporary.

The cutscene, titled “Attract Movie,” offers a wild preview of what’s to come for those who didn’t import or watch footage from this game when it was a Japanese exclusive. If Nier Automata is your only exposure to this series, you should feel right at home with the post-apocalyptic craziness of Replicant, including hearty giant robots and other weird enemies, mysterious hooded dance figures, and the general existence of Emil. Nier Replicant is bringing the alternative version of the Nier 2010 to a wider audience for the first time. The story centers on the protagonist who sets out on a journey to heal a deadly disease plaguing his younger sister. While Cavia developed the two original versions of Nier and PlatinumGames managed Nier: Automata, developer Toylogic is taking the reins this time around. In other news from Nier, it’s the 4th anniversary of the release of Nier: Automata. According to Square Enix, the game has surpassed 5.5 million digital shipments and sales worldwide. Don’t worry though; Replicant precedes Automata, so you can play this game first without worry.
